2005, November – Prem Rawat launches Food for People
In a ceremony that took place in Bantoli, a village in the state of Jharkand, Maharaji laid the cornerstone for the foundation of a facility that will bring free nutritious meals to children and adults in need. The Bantoli area, which is a remote region in northeastern India, is home to some of the poorest people on earth.

2006, March – Food for People Launched in Northeastern India
TPRF inaugurated the first Food for People facility in a tribal area in northeastern India. The opening of this facility marks the launch of an innovative model of food aid established by the Foundation in response to Prem Rawat’s vision to help people most in need

2007, March – Food for People Celebrates One Year
After one year of operation, the Food for People food-aid program in Bantoli, India, has been a great success, enabling adults to regain their health and go back to work and school-aged children to go back to school.

2007, September – TPRF Launches Five-Year Plan for Food for People
Responding to interest in other areas of India and also in Nepal, the Foundation would like to open three new Food for People facilities where the effort would give people the hope of breaking through the downward cycle of poverty and malnutrition.

2008, September – TPRF to Build Second Food for People Facility in Rural Nepal
TPRF made a grant of US$250,000 to build and maintain a sustainable Food for People facility in the impoverished Tasarpu village in Nepal's mountainous Dhading region.

2009, April – New Food for People open in Nepal
Shortly after its opening, news of the successful Food for People (FFP) program in Bantoli, India, reached Nepal. A group of Nepalese citizens, impressed with the results of the program, approached TPRF to discuss building a similar facility in their country. TPRF began working with a local, independent non-profit organization, Premsagar Foundation Nepal (PFN) to coordinate the project.
